Britta Deardorff

Britta Deardorff is known for her heavily textured paintings – straw and clay wall reliefs make up most of her work. Each layer of her paintings is full of precision and color. Behind the patterns and bright colors, the heaped warfare of composition, there is type of unity – happiness won only through surrender to chaos.

Deardorff received her MFA from Hunter College in 2011 where she was the recipient of the Tony Smith Award. She also received her BFA in Painting from Ohio University in 2005. Her most recent solo and group exhibitions include Regina Rex Gallery, NY; and Novella Gallery, NY.
